What is web development, and who is it for?

Web development at Techmode means a fast, search-ready website or online store built for Kenyan mobile data, with M-Pesa checkout and WhatsApp enquiries wired in from the start. It suits businesses whose customers look them up on a phone before deciding. From KSh 120,000, in three to six weeks.

Fast, beautiful, SEO-ready websites and web apps built on modern stacks like Next.js — engineered to rank on Google, load in under two seconds on Kenyan networks, and turn visitors into paying customers. From landing pages to full e-commerce stores with M-Pesa checkout.

The problem

What this actually costs you.

People find us on Instagram, then there is nowhere to send them.
What it costsEvery enquiry restarts from zero in the DMs, and the serious buyers drift.
The site looks fine but nobody ever fills the form.
What it costsYou pay for hosting and get no enquiries — the site is a brochure, not a channel.
It takes forever to load on mobile data.
What it costsMost Kenyan visitors arrive on a phone, and a slow first screen loses them before the first word.

What we build

The outcome, not the deliverable.

We scope every engagement around results you can measure — not line items that sit on a shelf.

  • Rank higher on local Google searches
  • Load in under 2 seconds on mobile
  • Convert more visitors into enquiries

What changes

Before, and after.

  • Someone searches for what you sell

    The old way

A competitor's page comes up; yours is on page three or not indexed at all.

    With Techmode

Your page is structured, fast and indexed, and it answers the question they typed.

  • A visitor lands on a phone over mobile data

    The old way

A blank screen for several seconds, then a layout that jumps as images arrive.

    With Techmode

The first screen is readable almost immediately and nothing shifts under their thumb.

  • They decide to buy

    The old way

A contact form that goes to an inbox nobody watches after five o'clock.

    With Techmode

M-Pesa checkout, or a WhatsApp message that arrives already saying what they want.

What's included

Everything in the price, itemised.

  • Structure and copy direction — what each page has to do before anyone designs it
  • A responsive design built mobile-first, reviewed with you before a line of code
  • The build itself, on a modern stack, with your content loaded
  • On-page SEO: titles, descriptions, structured data, sitemap, and a Search Console handover
  • M-Pesa checkout and WhatsApp enquiry routing where the site sells or takes bookings
  • A performance pass against a throttled mobile profile, not a laptop on fibre
  • Training so your team can edit copy and images without calling us

Timeline

3–6 weeks, week by week.

  • Week 1

    Structure and content

We agree the pages, what each one is for, and what has to be on it. Nothing is designed until that is settled.

  • Weeks 2–3

    Design and build

Mobile-first design reviewed with you, then the build, with a working link you can open at any point.

  • Weeks 4–5

    Integrations and SEO

M-Pesa, WhatsApp routing, forms, structured data, sitemap, analytics, and the performance pass.

  • Week 6

    Launch and handover

We go live, submit the sitemap, and train whoever will keep the content current.

Investment

From KSh 120,000, and what moves it.

Web Development projects start at KSh 120,000 and typically run 3–6 weeks. Every project is scoped and priced in writing before any work begins — the figure below is a starting point, not a quotation.

What pushes the price up

  • A product catalogue with variants, stock rules or multiple delivery zones
  • Copywriting and photography from scratch rather than supplied
  • Migrating an existing site with hundreds of URLs that must keep their rankings

What keeps it down

  • Content and images ready before we start
  • A focused page count — five strong pages beat twenty thin ones for search anyway
  • Using our checkout and booking patterns rather than a bespoke flow

Third-party costs — hosting, WhatsApp conversation fees, app store accounts — are yours and are named up front. See how we price for the full picture.

Questions

Web Development, answered.

  • How much does a website cost in Kenya?

Our websites start at KSh 120,000 and most marketing sites land between there and roughly KSh 300,000, depending on page count, whether we write the copy, and whether it sells online. You get a fixed written scope and price before we begin.

  • Can you add M-Pesa payments to my website?

Yes. We integrate the Safaricom Daraja API so customers pay by STK push, the receipt is generated automatically, and the order confirmation goes out on WhatsApp. It is one of the most common things we are asked for.

  • Will my site actually show up on Google?

We build the technical side that makes ranking possible — fast pages, clean structure, structured data, a submitted sitemap — and we hand over Search Console so you can see the results. Ranking also depends on your content and competition, which is why we set out what still needs doing rather than promising a position.

  • Do I need to supply the text and photos?

It is cheaper if you do, and we will tell you exactly what is needed. If you would rather not, we write the copy and arrange photography, which adds to both the price and the timeline.

  • Who owns the site when it is finished?

You do — the domain, the hosting account, the code and the content. We hand over every login at launch. You can keep us on a care plan or take it elsewhere; nothing is locked to us.
