Capability Lab

Don't take our word for it. Use it.

We are a new agency, so we are not going to show you other people's logos. We built working demos of every system we install instead — open one and put it through its paces.

What is the Capability Lab?

The Capability Lab is a set of eleven interactive demos of the systems Techmode Solutions builds for Kenyan businesses — a WhatsApp AI agent that quotes and takes M-Pesa payment, an M-Pesa storefront checkout, a lead-response comparison, and eight more. Every demo runs in your browser, needs no sign-up, and uses fictional businesses and simulated payments.

All 11 live

Eleven systems, one per service.

Each demo is the matching service, running. Nothing here touches a real business, a real customer or a real payment — every one carries the badge that says so.

WhatsApp AI agent sandbox

Problem
Enquiries come in at midnight and I answer at 8am — by then they have bought somewhere else.
We install
An AI agent on the official WhatsApp Business API that answers, qualifies, quotes and takes the M-Pesa payment in the chat.
What changes
  • Every enquiry answered in seconds, at any hour, in the language it arrived in
  • Orders arrive already qualified — items, area, delivery fee and total agreed
  • Payment collected in the same conversation, with the receipt sent automatically

M-Pesa checkout flow

Problem
Sales happen in Instagram DMs. Sizes get confused, payments get chased by hand, and orders get lost in the thread.
We install
A mobile-first storefront with M-Pesa STK-push checkout, automatic WhatsApp receipts and stock that updates itself.
What changes
  • Checkout finished in under a minute, on the phone the customer already holds
  • Receipts and delivery updates sent without anyone typing them
  • Stock, orders and payments agreeing with each other in one place

The response race

Problem
We do reply to everyone. Just not always the same day — and I have no idea what that actually costs us.
We install
An agent that answers and scores every enquiry on arrival, then routes the ones worth a human straight to the right person.
What changes
  • First reply measured in seconds instead of hours, including out of hours
  • Sales time spent on enquiries that already qualified, not on sorting them
  • A number you can act on for what a slow reply is costing this month

Automation ROI calculator

Problem
Half my team's week goes on admin nobody wants to do, and I cannot tell whether fixing it is worth the spend.
We install
The repetitive hand-offs — quoting, invoicing, reminders, reporting — running themselves, with exceptions flagged for a human.
What changes
  • Admin hours recovered and pointed at work that actually earns
  • The three tasks worth automating first, named and costed before anything is built
  • A payback period you can hold us to, in months rather than adjectives

Invoice and M-Pesa reconciliation

Problem
Someone spends two days a month matching M-Pesa statements to invoices line by line, and it still does not balance.
We install
Automatic matching between M-Pesa and bank statements and your invoices, with every unmatched line flagged and reasoned.
What changes
  • Reconciliation done continuously instead of in a two-day scramble
  • Exceptions surfaced with a reason, so the work is deciding rather than searching
  • An audit trail that already exists when the auditor asks for it

Client intake to engagement letter

Problem
Every new matter starts with an hour of retyping the same details into the same three documents.
We install
Intake that writes the file once and drafts the engagement letter, the matter record and the diary entries from it.
What changes
  • A new matter opened in minutes, from one set of details entered once
  • Engagement letters drafted from your own precedents, not from scratch
  • Deadlines and court dates in the diary the moment the matter exists

School fees and records

Problem
Fee balances live in a spreadsheet, attendance lives in a book, and chasing a parent means a phone call.
We install
One record per student — fees, attendance, grades — with M-Pesa payment and reminders parents actually receive.
What changes
  • Fee position visible per student, per class and per term without a spreadsheet
  • Reminders sent on WhatsApp and SMS with a paybill link that works
  • Admin staff back on students instead of on reconciling books

SACCO loan workflow

Problem
Loan applications sit in a tray waiting for a committee, and members ring the office to ask where theirs is.
We install
A rules engine that scores every application against your own policy, decides the clear cases, and escalates the rest with reasons.
What changes
  • Straightforward applications decided the day they arrive
  • Every decision carrying the rule and the figures it was made on
  • An audit trail written as the work happens, not reconstructed afterwards

Social Media AutomationLive demo · built by Techmode

Social autopilot

Problem
We post when someone remembers, which is roughly never, and then wonder why social does nothing for us.
We install
A content system in your own voice that drafts per platform, schedules a full week, and routes the replies worth answering.
What changes
  • A week of posts drafted from one topic, written for each platform rather than copied across
  • Publishing that happens on schedule whether or not anyone remembers
  • Comments and DMs that are actually enquiries reaching a person
Illustration of a mobile app preview system
Mobile App DevelopmentLive demo · built by Techmode

Mobile app preview

Problem
Customers ask if we have an app, and I have no idea what one would even do for us or what it would cost.
We install
A native-feeling app for the job your customers actually do — browse, order, pay, track — built to work on a weak connection.
What changes
  • The ordering journey in the customer's pocket rather than in a chat thread
  • Payments and tracking in the app, so nobody has to ring to ask
  • A build scoped to one job done properly instead of a menu of features
Illustration of a field data to donor report system
SaaS DevelopmentLive demo · built by Techmode

Field data to donor report

Problem
Field teams collect on paper because there is no signal, and the donor report takes two weeks to assemble.
We install
Offline-first field collection that syncs when a signal appears, feeding a donor report that is always current.
What changes
  • Data captured where the work happens, with or without a connection
  • Reports current to the last sync rather than to the last fortnight
  • One dataset behind every donor's differently shaped report

Reference architectures

Written up, not clickable.

Six reference architectures, written out in full — the problem pattern, how the system is put together, and what it runs on. They are designs we build, not client projects we have delivered, and each one points at the demo that runs the same pattern.
