Investment

What this actually costs.

Most agencies make you ask. We would rather you knew before the call — it saves your time and ours, and it means the conversation starts at the right place.

How much does software development cost in Kenya?

Techmode prices from published starting points: websites and online stores from KSh 120,000, automation and WhatsApp AI from KSh 80,000, and SaaS or mobile apps from KSh 450,000. Care plans start at KSh 15,000 a month. Every project is scoped and priced in writing before work begins.

Starting points

Three kinds of work, three floors.

These are the prices a project of each kind starts at. What sits above the floor depends on scope, and the estimator below shows how.

Websites & E-commerce

from

KSh 120,000

Typically 3–6 weeks

Marketing websites and online stores with M-Pesa checkout, WhatsApp ordering and search structure built in.

Automation & WhatsApp AI

from

KSh 80,000

Typically 2–6 weeks

Workflow automation, WhatsApp AI agents on the official Business API, reconciliation, document assembly and lead qualification.

SaaS & Mobile Apps

from

KSh 450,000

Typically 6–12 weeks

Multi-tenant platforms, internal systems, dashboards and Android/iOS apps from one codebase.

Care & optimisation

KSh 15,000 per month

Hosting, monitoring, updates, backups and a set number of change hours each month. Optional, and never a condition of the build — you own everything either way.

  • Uptime and error monitoring, with someone who answers
  • Security and dependency updates applied, not just reported
  • Backups taken and a restore rehearsed rather than assumed
  • A monthly block of change hours that roll over once
  • A short monthly note on what changed and what it cost

Free estimator

A range, with the arithmetic.

Three questions, no email required, and the working shown so you can check it. It gives an estimate — a quotation follows a scoping conversation.

1. What kind of work is it?
2. Roughly how big?
3. Anything else? Optional

Answer the first two questions and a range appears here, with the arithmetic behind it.

Nothing is submitted, and we do not ask for an email to show you the number.

How we price

What is true of every engagement.

01

The scope is written before the work starts

You get a document listing what is being built and what is explicitly not. Anything outside it is a change with its own price, agreed before it happens.

02

Payment is phased against delivery

Typically a deposit, one or more milestones, and a balance at handover. You are never paying for work you have not seen.

03

You own what we build

The code, the domain, the hosting accounts and the data are yours, handed over at launch. A care plan is a service, not a hostage arrangement.

04

Third-party costs are yours and are named up front

Hosting, WhatsApp conversation fees, app store accounts, SMS credit. We estimate them against your volume before you commit, and they are billed to you, not marked up by us.

Questions

Pricing, answered.

  • How much does a website cost in Kenya?

Our websites start at KSh 120,000, and most marketing sites land between there and roughly KSh 300,000 depending on page count, whether we write the copy, and whether the site sells online. The estimator on our pricing page shows the arithmetic.

  • How much does business automation cost?

Automation projects start at KSh 80,000. A first project usually targets one workflow rather than everything at once, which is what keeps it at that end of the range and what makes the payback visible.

  • How much does an app or SaaS platform cost?

From KSh 450,000 for a focused first release. Live features, integration with older internal systems, and serving several customer types at once are the three things that move it up most.

  • Is the estimate a quotation?

No. The estimator gives a range from the answers you give it, and shows you the arithmetic so you can check it. A quotation is a written document we send after a scoping conversation, and only that binds either of us.

  • How does payment work?

Phased against delivery — typically a deposit, one or more milestones, and a balance at handover. You are never paying for work you have not seen running.

  • Are there ongoing costs after launch?

Third-party costs are yours and we name them up front: hosting, WhatsApp conversation fees, app store accounts, SMS credit. A care plan from KSh 15,000 a month is optional — you own the code and the accounts whether or not you take one.

  • Do you charge for the first conversation?

No. The consultation is free and carries no obligation. If the honest answer is that you should simplify a process rather than build anything, that is what we will tell you, and it costs you nothing to hear it.
